TNPSC has just released the TNPSC Group 1 Syllabus 2023 and Exam Pattern for the upcoming exam. The exam covers a broad range of subjects, including General Studies, aptitude, and Mental Ability, and a specific subject relevant to the post applied for. The TNPSC Group, 1 exam pattern consists of a preliminary and main written examination and also oral test or interview. The preliminary exam has only one objective-type paper, consisting of two sections, and is qualifying in nature.
On the other hand, the main exam consists of three papers, which are conceptual and carry a total of 750 marks. There will be no negative marking given for the wrong answer in the exam.

TNPSC Group 1 Exam Pattern 2023
- The TNPSC Group 1 exam pattern comprises two levels of exams: Prelims and Mains.
- The TNPSC Group 1 Prelims exam has only one objective-type paper consisting of two sections.
- Each question in both sections carries 1.5 marks.
- The TNPSC Group 1 Prelims exam is qualifying in nature, and its marks are not considered for final selection.
- The TNPSC Group 1 Mains exam 2023 consists of 3 papers, which are conceptual in nature and carry a total of 750 marks.
- There will be no negative marking given for the wrong answer in the exam.

Important Note
- The General Studies questions for both Preliminary and Main Written Examinations will be available in both Tamil and English languages.
- To qualify for evaluation, candidates must secure a minimum of 40% marks, or 40 marks, in Paper-I for the Main Written Examination.
- The answer sheets for Paper-II, Paper-III, and Paper-IV in the Main Written Examination will only be evaluated if the candidate meets the qualifying marks for Paper-I.
- The marks obtained in Paper-I will not be considered in the ranking process.

Syllabus for Main Written Examination
Paper-I:
This paper covers the prescribed Tamil language syllabus for the 10th standard, including grammar, comprehension, and vocabulary.
Paper-II:
This paper is at the degree level and includes three units:
- Unit I covers the modern history of India and Indian culture.
- Unit II focuses on social issues in India and Tamil Nadu.
- Unit III tests general aptitude and mental ability at the SSLC standard.
Paper-III:
This paper is also at the degree level and covers three units:
