What is MAHAGST Portal

The MAHAGST Portal is a Maharashtra government initiative aimed at increasing tax collection and simplifying the tax filing process for taxpayers. This platform provides various services related to the Goods and also the Services Tax (GST), Value Added Tax (VAT), and Profession Tax in an objective, uniform, well-structured, and efficient manner.

Taxpayers based in Maharashtra can easily register for GST, file GST returns, make online payments, locate GSTP, and access the e-way bill system through the MAHAGST Portal.

  • Service providers with an annual total revenue of more than ₹40 lakhs
  • Involved in the movement of products between states

Steps of MahaGst Registration Process

  1. Go to the MahaGST website and click on the “Skip to main content” option at the top of the page.
  2. A menu will appear. Hover your cursor over the “Other Acts Registration” option and select “New Dealer Registration”.
  3. You get the new page where you should click on “New Registration Under Various Acts”.
  4. On the next page, you will see the registration process flow along with instructions and a list of required documents.
  5. After reading the instructions, click “Next” at the bottom of the page.
  6. Select “New Dealer” and click “Next”.
  7. Enter your PAN/TAN details and the captcha code to continue with the registration process.
  8. Complete the registration form on the website to receive your user ID and password.
  9. Use these credentials to log in to the MahaGST portal and start filing your GST returns.

Steps to do E-Payment Through the MAHAGST Portal

You can also pay your GST online through the MAHAGST portal. The steps are listed below.

  1. Go to the MAHAGST portal at www.mahagst.gov.in.
  2. Scroll down and select the ‘e-Payments’ tile.
  3. Select the required option from a list of ‘e-Payment – Returns,’ ‘Return/Order Dues,’ and so on. ‘PTEC OTPT Payment,’ ‘Amnesty-Instalment Payment,’ and ‘PT/Old Acts Payment History.’
  4. Follow the instructions given on the following page to make the online payment.

Reset Password on the MahaGST Portal

  1. Go to the MahaGST website.
  2. Scroll down and hover your cursor over “Login for e-services” and click “Login for VAT and Allied Acts.”
  3. On the new page that opens, enter your username and password, then click “Log on.”
  4. Enter your user ID and click on the “Forgot Password” link.
  5. A new tab will open where you’ll need to provide your user ID, answer a security question, and click “Submit.”
  6. You’ll get an email of a link to reset your password.
