The National Defence Academy (NDA) has announced its exam date for the year 2022. The NDA exams will be conducted on April 10, 2022 for the first session while the second session will be held on September 4, 2022.

What is the National Defence Academy (NDA) Exam?

National Defence Academy is a national-level defence entrance exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) twice a year. 

The objective of this exam is to recruit the candidates to join Indian Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) and National Defence Academy (NDA).

How to Fill the NDA Application Form 2022?

The steps to fill the Application of NDA Form 2022 are as follows.

  • Step 1: Visit the official website of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) at upsc.gov.in.
  • Step 2: Click on “online application for various examinations of UPSC”.
  • Step 3: Click on “click here for part I” and read the instructions carefully and click on “yes”.
  • Step 4: On page 1 fill in the details such as name, gender, date of birth, parents’ name, nationality, etc., and click on “continue”.
  • Step 5: On page 2, select the options and mark them between 1 to 4 or mark ‘0’ if you do not want to give any preference. Those who are from Sainik/Military School or Son of JCO/NCO/Other Rank Officer must fill pages 3 & page 4.
  • Step 6: Pay the application fees through any online payment mode at your convenience.
  • Step 7: Select the examination centre and upload a photograph and signature.
  • Step 8: Download the application form and take a printed copy for future reference.

Application fee:

  • For every candidate, the application fee is Rs100. 
  • The application fee is free for ST/ SC/ NCOs/ Sons of JCOs/ ORS category candidates.

Mode of fee payment: Application fee can be submitted through debit card/ credit card/ net banking method or SBI challan method.

NDA Exam Eligibility Criteria

1. Nationality

The candidate is eligible to give National Defence Academy (NDA) exam if he or she is:

  • An Indian citizen
  • A subject to Nepal or Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 intending to settle permanently in India.
  • Individuals of Indian origin who have migrated from the countries – Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and East African countries – Kenya, Uganda, The United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with an intention of permanent settlement in India.
  • Candidates who are foreign nationals (except Gorkhas) will be required to produce a certificate of eligibility which is issued by Govt. of India.

2. Gender and marital status

  • Unmarried males & females are both eligible to apply for National Defence Academy (NDA) .
  • Candidates will not be allowed to marry throughout the selection process and until they complete their training period.
  • If a candidate marries during training, he/she will be discharged and liable to pay all the expenditure incurred on him during the training by the government.

3. Age Limit 

  • Applying candidate age should be between 16.5 to 19.5 years. 
  • For National Defence Academy (NDA) I, the candidate must be born between 2nd July 2003 to 1st July 2006.  
  • For National Defence Academy (NDA) II, the candidate must be born between 2nd January 2004 to 1st January 2007.

4. Educational Qualification

  • For air force & naval wings (Cadet entry scheme): Candidates who have passed 10th and 12th level with Physics and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.
  • For army wing: Candidates must have passed 10th and 12th level from a recognised board or university.
  • Appearing: Students appearing for the 12th level are also eligible to apply.  

5. Fitness   

  • Candidates who Applicant must physically stand upon the physical standards set by the commission of National Defence Academy (NDA) admissions.
  • Candidates who have withdrawn or resigned from any training academies of the armed forces on disciplinary grounds are not eligible. 

NDA Admit Card 2022 Release Date

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) releases the National Defence Academy (NDA) admit card on the official website three weeks before the exam. 

Candidates must collect the admit card before going to the exam because they will not be permitted to appear in the examination without their admit card.
