Free Laptops for ITI Students
As part of encouraging vocational training courses among students in Bihar, the state government is also extending the free laptop scheme to women and men studying at Industrial Training Institutes in the state. However, you need to prove that you’re a student of an ITI at the time of application.
For ITI students, the procedure for applying for the free laptop remains the same.
In addition to the documents that I mention above, you will also require an identity card from the ITI where you’re studying for the vocational course in Bihar.
Types of Free Laptops
The Bihar government plans to float a tender for the supply of laptops to provide to students. The specifications of these laptops were not available at the time of writing this article. However, it is expected that these would be the latest kind of laptops.
It is also not known how students who get these laptops will get Internet access since large parts of Bihar are yet to have access to mobile Internet services. Though cities in Bihar have high speed and reliable Internet services, these facilities are yet to be extended to those in villages.

More Schemes from Bihar Government for Students
In addition to the free laptop scheme, the Bihar government in 2021 has also announced two more schemes for students in the state.
These include the student credit card scheme and the student monthly allowance scheme.
Under the student credit card scheme, which is also available from the above website, each student that comes from economically weaker sections of the community can get up to Rs.1,000 as financial assistance every month for studies. Similarly, students that’ve completed their studies and awaiting jobs can get a monthly allowance of Rs.1,000 from the Bihar government.
